Gravity Light - LED bulb lights using Gravitational Pull

Deciwatt.org (a research initiative London based organisation) has invented Gravity Light. It is a Light Emitting Diode(LED) bulb which works using Gravitational Pull( a non-conventional and sustainable source of energy).
Around 1.5 billion people in the world who rely on biomass fuel like kerosene for lighting will be able to use this sustainable solution.

How it Works

The ‘Gravity Light’ uses a sack of sand to gradually pull a piece of rope through a dynamo mechanism which generates electricity to power an light emitting diode (LED) light.

Power  of Gravity Light

A three-second pull on the rope to raise the sack will keep the LED bulb running for up to 30 minutes.

Co-Inventors of Gravity Light:

  • Martin Riddiford ( director of Deciwatt.org)
  • Jim Reeves (director of Deciwatt.org)

Project Budget

Deciwatt.org is getting funding from a crowd-funding website indiegogo.com of around $165,000.

Project AIM

Around 1.5 billion people in the world including a vast part of Asia and Africa who still don't have the access to Electric Power and uses Biomass fuel for lighting will be introduced to this Gravity Bulb in mass soon.
Kerosene is responsible for the death of thousands of peoples of the developing countries.
According to a report of world bank, "780 million women and children inhale smoke which is equivalent to smoking two packets of cigarettes every day".
It will bring a  revolutionary change in the developing countries.
